Cats are at their most vulnerable when they’re sleeping, so getting spooked while sleeping will have a lasting effect.

You may or may not have noticed what spooked them.

It could have been a loud noise, another pet pouncing on them, or maybe you kicked them in your sleep (see the first point above).

If your cat likes to sleep near your head it's probably because your body releases a lot of heat from there while you sleep , making it extra cozy for your cat. You also don't move your head much in your sleep, so your cat knows that they're less likely to get whacked by an arm or leg up there....

Sleeping with you may simply be one of the ways your cat shows you affection. If your cat sleeps on you all the time, she is showing you that she likes being with you and enjoys cuddles. She may also be trying to help keep you warm and safe, as sleeping in the wild is potentially dangerous....
